Edward Street Staircase
Welcome to the public engagement page for the Edward Street Staircase project in Port Stanley! This page aims to provide residents and stakeholders with information about the proposed staircase and offer opportunities for engagement and input. The Municipality of Central Elgin, in collaboration with MTE Consultants, is undertaking this project to enhance accessibility and connectivity in the Orchard Beach area, just north of Little Beach.
Consultant's Role
MTE Consultants, a reputable firm with expertise in surveying, tree assessment, geotechnical investigations, and structural design, was entrusted to create a staircase design that meets the requirements of the Ontario Building Code, AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), and the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority.
Design Presentation
On June 12, 2023, MTE Consultants presented their proposed design to the Council. The staircase design presentation can be found starting at the 17-minute mark of the recording.
The Municipality of Central Elgin staff, along with MTE Consultants, is excited to invite the public to an open house in the coming weeks. This event will provide an opportunity for community members to:
- View the proposed design of the Edward Street Staircase.
- Engage in constructive discussions with staff and consultants to seek clarifications and ask questions about the project.
- Share valuable input and suggestions to help shape the final design preparations.
