The Municipality of Central Elgin is undertaking the implementation of zoning on lands east of St. Thomas along the Highway 3 corridor to permit industrial uses. This municipally-led initiative will impose zoning on the lands that will implement the policies outlined within the Municipality of Central Elgin and County of Elgin’s Official Plans, which identify these lands for industrial and major industrial uses.
By undertaking the rezoning of the lands, the Municipality will comprehensively apply the zoning to lands identified for employment in the Official Plan, rather than on a lot-by-lot basis.
The municipally-led rezoning process will be undertaken as per the requirements of the Ontario Planning Act, with the requirement to provide public notice and hold statutory public meetings prior to Council considering the new Zoning By-law.
